Southern Cross Austereo’s (SCA) Hit and Triple M-branded DAB+ stations have helped the audio company continue to charge advertisers premium rates despite ratings fluctuations on its FM stations. According to Adam Williscroft, content director for Hit and Triple M Digital Radio, DAB+ stations “were designed to be brand-safe options, but to also complement the parent FM brand."

Czechia

Public broadcaster Czech Radio is planning a major information campaign on DAB+ in November and December, ahead of the Christmas period. The goal of the campaign will be to further inform consumers about the benefits of DAB+ radio.

Polish TVR transmission operator Emitel has deployed ten new transmitters for Polish Radio. About 67% of the country’s population and 44% of the country’s area will be covered by DAB+ services by the end of 2020.

Brazil

In a conference stream dedicated solely to radio, three presentations in this year’s SET Brazil event focused on DAB+. WorldDAB President Patrick Hannon and WorldDAB Technical Committee member Les Sabel featured amongst the presenters.

WorldDAB and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) presented a technical webinar series this week, attracting over 100 broadcasters, network operators, regulators and other radio stakeholders. The series, which extended for three days, presented a panel of experts who explained the features and opportunities that DAB+ offers broadcasters in the Asia-Pacific region.

France

France's National Confederation of Associative Radios (CNRA) has asked the French media regulator CSA to evaluate whether 'half-scale' DAB+ services could potentially be launched in France. The proposal is to match the resources of associative radios with an adequate territory coverage and a half size multiplex.

Slovenia

A third DAB+ network has gone on air in Slovenia, and is the second digital radio network with national coverage. The new R2 multiplex will include regional and local radio broadcasts and, like the other two, is managed by RTV Slovenija.
