In January 2025, The Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia launched a new website, dab.si, which contains all information about digital radio in the Republic of Slovenia.
DAB+ has been on air since 2016, with the launch of the first R1 national DAB+ network, operated by public broadcaster RTV Slovenia.
Already on air are:
National multiplex: R1, carrying 16 stations

Local multiplex: R3 (Ljubljana), carrying 5 stations.
On 25 September 2025, RTV Slovenija officially launched two new national DAB+ digital radio networks - R4 and R5, ushering radio into a new digital era. 59 radio stations are already available via DAB+. All eight RTV Slovenija programmes and dozens of other stations are already available, and the new R4 and R5 networks will ensure even broader and more stable access.
- Population coverage: 90.8%
- Land area coverage: 75.9%
- Motorways, expressways and main roads: 89%
With the new networks, the DAB+ signal will reach almost the entire country, ensuring uninterrupted radio reception even on longer journeys across Slovenia.
On 15 October 2026, the Agency for Communication Networks and Services of the Republic of Slovenia (AKOS) published a new public call for tenders for the award of 22 licences for the broadcasting of radio programmes using the DAB+ digital broadcasting standard. Of these, 12 licences are intended for programmes covering the whole of Slovenia, whilst 10 are for programmes covering the Ljubljana area. The deadline for submitting bids is 1 December 2026.

Slovenia's R1 multiplex was filled in August 2019 with the award of licences to Radio Aktual and Radio City to broadcast on the remaining spaces available on the R1 network. Interest was high with 11 applicants - a healthy sign ahead of the public consultation by AKOS on the tender process for a second DAB+ national network, with a public meeting held at AKOS offices on 12 September 2019.
In September 2019, Slovenia's Agency for Communication Networks and Services (Akos) launched a call for tenders for DAB+ frequencies. The contract concerns two multiplexes – R2 (national) and R3 (Ljubljana).
In December 2019 AKOS issued licenses for national mux R2 and local mux R3 (covering the capital city Ljubljana) to the public broadcaster RTV Slovenia.
