DAB Italia (previously Club DAB Italia), the first national operator for DAB digital radio, has changed its name and has announced plans to reach 85% DAB coverage by the end of the year.

The digital radio app for smartphones enables listeners to switch between DAB+, WiFi and 3G/4G. Over 60 DAB+ stations have united in the creation of the app. The app is now available on the LG Stylus 2 DAB+. LG Stylus 2 DAB+ is currently the first only smartphone that offers the opportunity to receive DAB+ signals.

On Monday 12 September WorldDAB is hosting a session titled ‘Looking to the Digital Future: Digital Switchover Progress and Plans’. The significant issues being addressed in this session are the status of digital radio broadcasting in various countries as the DAB platform continues to spread across Europe, and specifically the commencement now of the switch-off of analogue FM radio - rather than the continued simulcasting of both analogue and digital services.

10% of all the new radios on sale in the Netherlands can receive DAB+ according to new research by GfK. In the first quarter of 2016 27,000 DAB+ receivers were sold. DAB+ was launched in the Netherlands in September 2013.
