Toyota has wheeled out a special edition Altitude version of its LandCruiser 200 Series GXL, with standard features including 6.1-inch touchscreen satellite navigation and six-speaker audio with DAB+ digital radio.

Germany

Hessischer Rundfunk is all set to expand its DAB+ network to supply two additional locations in the German state of Hessen from summer 2017. The new sites will be at Biedenkopf Sackpfeife in the Rothaargebirge and Hoher Meissner in the north-east of Hesse.

Netherlands

National commercial radio broadcasters in the Netherlands must apply for extensions to their current FM radio licences with associated DAB+ digital radio broadcasting rights by 24 April 2017. The licence extensions will cover the period from 1 September 2017 until 1 September 2022.

Last week, the ARD presented a new DAB+ logo that was developed in collaboration with Deutschlandradio. The association actively supports the new logo and has welcomed the launch of a nationwide marketing campaign to promote DAB+ radio, which is due to start on 2 May 2017.

Frontier Smart Technologies Group has launched its smallest ever module for DAB radios. Siena, which went into mass production at the end of February, is based on Frontier's new Kino 4-Lite silicon and when using surface mount technology, it can be fixed directly to a DAB radio system board without a connector.

Siena is based on Frontier's new Kino 4-Lite silicon, a single integrated chip, which combines a multi-band RF tuner, digital baseband, and application processor. Using surface mount technology, the module can be fixed directly to a DAB radio system board without the need to include a connector.

Germany

Until recently, there was a clear geographic split in Germany in terms of DAB+ radio. This changed last September, when RSH, the most popular station in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, started broadcasting via DAB+ in the Hamburg region. Today, with the regional public broadcaster NDR, and the national public and commercial stations, a total of 32 radio stations can be received in Hamburg via DAB+.

Rai Radio Kids is to be Italy's first radio channel devoted entirely to children aged between 2 and 10 years old. The channel will be available from 12 June 2017 on DAB digital radio, across internet and satellite platforms.
