Applications have been received by the Bayerisches Landeszentrale für neue Medien (BLM) for a free broadcasting station on DAB+. Two broadcasters in Aschaffenburg and Würzburg have applied for a joint station entitled RADIO PRIMATON and print media Mainpost have submitted an application for 'Main Radio'.

Wireless Group’s Belfast-based station U105 has gone on to digital radio for the first time this week. It’s been on FM since launching in November 2005, but has now gone Northern Ireland-wide on the country’s DAB multiplex.

After six months without nationwide FM broadcasts in parts of the country, surveys show that listeners remain loyal to radio “Digitisation provides more radio channels across the country. DAB + is now audible in most of the well-known German holiday regions. More generally, DAB+ availability is increasing across Europe - 56 per cent of Europeans can now receive digital radio.

Media Broadcast, Germany's largest transmission provider, is adding four additional national DAB+ transmission sites to its nationwide digital radio network, broadcasting on Channel 5C. The focus of the development is in the Lower Saxony and Brandenburg regions.
