More than 719,000 DAB+ radios have already been sold in the Netherlands. This was announced during Digital Radio Day. Meanwhile, 13% of Dutch population say they listen to radio via DAB+. During the last 12 months, 154,000 DAB+ radios for cars have been sold including cars delivered with DAB+ as standard.

Digital Radio UK is taking its ‘Doing the DAB’ event to Northern Ireland, following the success of sessions across England and Scotland. Doing the DAB: Belfast will be part of the Belfast Media Festival on 17th November, with speakers confirmed so far including people from the BBC and commercial radio operators in Northern Ireland.

Denmark

Speakers including Culture Minister Mette Bock, Teracom Boss, Martin Løbel and BBC's Steve Titherington, spoke at a press conference on the expansion of DAB+ across Denmark. DAB+ provides listeners with radio that is not dependant on IP or dictated by algorithms with more choice compared to standard FM. Watch the videos.

The UK “Minister for Digital”, Matt Hancock, delivered a video address in last week’s “Drive to Digital” conference in London. Hancock’s half-hour included a plea to radio receiver manufacturers to make their sets “digital by default” - a rather political phrase by which he meant that analogue AM/FM radios should be removed from the shelves.

The conversion of FM to DAB has resulted in a fierce sale of DAB + radios and adapters for cars at Elkjøp. "The most important thing for us when it comes to the conversion from FM to DAB + is to help most people to get as easy and smooth transition as possible. Regardless of DAB + radio for home or car adapter, says Kristian Pedersen, Sales Manager for Audio and Image at Elkjøp Norway.
