Arqiva has announced the Sound Digital Limited national DAB multiplex is to expand to an extra four million people. 19 new transmitters are being added to the existing network, increasing Sound Digital’s household coverage by over 1.6m new households.

Almost 12 million DAB receivers were sold in 2017 in Europe and Asia Pacific, a new record for yearly sales. Almost half (5.9m) of the sales were for automotive devices, key markets showing a significant increase in the number of cars sold with DAB fitted as standard. Slovenia

Slovenia has drawn up a blueprint to disconnect FM by 22 February 2022. After several years of testing, 12 national radio stations have been received in Slovenia since September 2016 via DAB+. About 70% of the country is covered by seven channels, including major cities and major motorways.

Slovenia

The most important Slovenian radio stations are scheduled to switch to DAB+ on 22 February 2022. Slovenia currently has 12 DAB+ services, covering over 70% of the population.

Belgium

Eight new radio channels will be part of Tarmac - the new cross-media platform launched by RTBF. One channel will be the DAB+ test channel currently used by RTBF, which was confirmed by its director of radio production Laurent Finet.
