For the Flemish Minister of Media, Sven Gatz (Open VLD), the big radio stations will have to disappear from the FM band from here. The goal is to digitise the entire radio network in the north of the country. According to the first measures of the Ipsos office, one in five Flemings have gone digital. "That's more than we thought," commented Mr Gatz.

DAB+ continues its successful rollout across Europe as Belgium officially launches the technology across the Flanders region today to mark the start of Digital Radio Week. As of today, all Flemish national radio stations will be available on DAB +, while the technology is expected to launch across the rest of the country – and specifically Belgium’s French-speaking region – on Thursday.
