A call for the joint promotion of digital radio by the federal states and EU after the election and election of the European Parliament has been issued by the Director of the DLM Landesmedienanstalt Saarland, Dr. Gerd Bauer who says that "The figures presented this week at the IFA show that digital radio is the future of radio. At the end of this year there will be over 3 million digital radios in the market. This is a size that is neither economically nor politically negligible, ".

Michael Reichter (Verein Digital Radio Mitteldeutschland), Helwin Lesch (Bayerischer Rundfunk), Thomas Wächter (MEDIA BROADCAST), Ralf Reynolds (Endgerätehersteller PURE) sowie Ulrich Hürter (sunshine live) have been elected for another two years to oversee the work of the Initiative für Digitalradio in Germany.

The sales and the availability of digital radio receivers continue to rise according to market researchers. Over 1.8 million households now have at least one DAB or DAB + device and over 2.7 million digital radios have been sold with about 25 percent being used in cars.

Fitting every taxi with a radio set must be costly, but it could prove very effective in expanding DBC's reach. Taxi drivers and their passengers are a "captive audience" and getting them to tune in would boost listener numbers greatly.
