Halfords to wind down analogue car radio sales ahead of digital switchover
Car maintenance company Halfords will stop selling analogue-only radios within two years to provide a major boost to the proposed switchover to digital. From 2015, Halfords will offer only digital receivers and fit them in customers' vehicles.

Digital radio to get £21m investment
Communications Minister Ed Vaizey said up to £21m will come from the BBC, government and commercial radio. It will be used to increase digital radio coverage so more homes can receive DAB signals. "I absolutely believe that the future of radio in this country is digital. We cannot go backwards," said Mr Vaizey.

Imagination licenses car radio IP to ST.
Imagination has licensed its Ensigma communications processor technology to STMicroelectronics for use in a multi-standard programmable SoC for car radios. Under the terms of its licensing arrangements, Imagination receives license fees, and royalty revenues on shipment of SoCs incorporating the IP.
The new generation of ST digital radio receivers will support a wide range of global digital radio standards including DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) and HD Radio.
