NPO Hopes to Expand its DAB+ Programming
The Dutch public broadcaster NPO has plans to expand its DAB+ offerings over the next four years. Currently, NPO has 10 programs available via DAB+ including Radio 1, Radio 2, 3FM, Radio 4, Radio 5, Radio 6 Soul & Jazz, Alternative 3FM, Radio 1 Extra, FunX and Radio Top 2000. The plan is to eventually expand the number of programs to 15.

Geneva Unveils AeroSphère Multi-room Music System
Swiss manufacturer Geneva has debuted its new AeroSphère multi-source multi-room music system, which features wireless active speakers in two sizes together with an optional network-connected entertainment module that adds CD, DAB/DAB+, FM radio and a further line-in to the setup.

Yesterday's consultation on DAB+ was a success, with representatives from radio stations under the remit of the "comité territorial de l’audiovisuel" in Lyon, as well as from the NRJ radio group, Radio France and Lagardère... Radio France plans to launch two stations on DAB+ in Strasbourg.

ARD and Germany Radio put on hybrid strategy
ARD, Deutschlandradio and the private radio stations have joined forces with Radio Player Germany on radioplayer.de. From June 16 the streams of the ARD radio waves are added. ARD foresees to make the programs both receivable via digital terrestrial radio (DAB+) and via Internet streaming.

DAB+ digital radio passes the 2-million mark
In June, sales of DAB+ digital radios in Switzerland passed the 2-million mark. To say thank-you, MCDT is teaming up with radio stations and specialist dealers to launch a nationwide competition. The main prize is a private showcase with soul singer Seven – high up in the air on a DAB+ radio tower. A total of 300 DAB+ radios in the "2 million" anniversary design are also up for grabs.
