New Portsmouth local DAB service is live

Portsmouth was chosen by broadcast regulator Ofcom has one of ten locations to trial small scale DAB broadcasting to towns and cities, and is the only second location to go live with broadcasts.

Solent Wireless starts small scale DAB service

Small Scale DAB testers Solent Wireless has started broadcasting on digital radio today. Test transmissions have been taking place for the last seven days, ready for Angel Xtra, Express FM, Mango Vibe, The Flash and 100% Triple Hits Radio to start today. JAMM Radio however will not launch until September.

Small scale DAB trials underway as 6 new stations take to the air in Portsmouth

Bridge FM to join DAB in Cardiff and Newport

Ofcom recently agreed to the change, which goes live on September 1st. The regulator said: “The variation would not unacceptably narrow the range of programmes available by way of local digital sound programme services to persons living in the area or locality for which the licensed multiplex service is provided”.

ABU - ASBU Technology Workshop focused on Digital Radio

The Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) in collaboration with the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) and WorldDAB conducted a week long workshop. 15 broadcast engineers coming from Algeria, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, United Arabs Emirates, Sudan and Malaysia took part in the workshop which focused on various technological aspects related to DAB+ digital radio.
