Digital radio progress in Norway, Switzerland, Denmark and UK
Following DSO last year, Norway has ensured DAB+ coverage in virtually 100% of the country, with Bauer Media's Travis Baxter predicting that by end of 2018, total listening and commercial radio revenue to increase. In Switzerland, the government's collaboration with industry and broadcasters will likely enable DAB+ to be the main radio platform by 2020, four years ahead of original schedule. Denmark recently announced its own DSO roadmap, with the switch to happen after digital listening exceeds 50% or by 2021 at the latest. In the UK, digital listening is expected to go above 50% later this year, triggering a formal government review into when to adopt a DSO timeframe.
