Cellnex brings DAB+ digital radio to the Balearic Islands
Cellnex, together with IB Digital, the Balearic Agency for Digitalisation, Cybersecurity and Telecommunications, is promoting the design, deployment and operation of the first regional DAB+ digital radio network in Spain, which will provide comprehensive service to all the Balearic Islands. The new DAB+ network, the most widespread European standard for digital terrestrial broadcasting, allows for more programmes per multiplex, improves the listening experience, adds information associated with the content and optimises spectral efficiency compared to traditional analogue broadcasting. Thanks to this technology, IB3 Radio will be able to start digital broadcasting, opening the door to the incorporation of private regional concessionaires in the coming months, boosting radio offerings and audiovisual innovation in the Balearic Islands.
