Digital radio gains ground in French-speaking Belgium: DAB+ reaches record levels

To mark World Radio Day, maRadio.be is unveiling the results of the 7th wave of its study dedicated to digital listening in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. Carried out among 1,500 French speakers aged between 12 and 80, this survey confirms a major trend: digital radio is booming and making a lasting mark on the listening habits of French-speaking Belgians. While 76% of listeners still listen to FM radio, 72% now prefer digital media. Among the latter, DAB+ has reached a record high (44%). In terms of listening volume, digital radio now accounts for 49% of the total, with a split of 27% for DAB+, which dominates digital listening, 14% for Internet and 9% for TV. Among the under-55s, the digital switchover is already a reality, and 2025 could be the year when digital listening definitively overtakes analogue.
