This week’s news from the United Kingdom that the BBC will stop scheduling separate content for Radio 4 Long Wave follows several other high power Long Wave (LW) broadcasts ceasing. The high cost of analogue transmission, coupled with a reported difficulty in finding replacement parts for older obsolete equipment, is driving these decisions.

WorldDAB partners with Radiodays Europe 2023 - updated

This year sees Radiodays Europe take place in Prague from 26-28 March, and WorldDAB is proud to be a partner of the event. WorldDAB and its members will be well-represented throughout the three-day gathering at the Prague Congress Centre, including a special “happy hour” reception on Monday evening.

WorldDAB gathers DAB+ signal distribution experts in Geneva

WorldDAB’s Spectrum and Network Implementation Committee (SNIC) brought together experts from across Europe on 9 March for a seminar on signal distribution. The event, with speakers covering a range of technical aspects of delivering the broadcast signal from the multiplexer to the transmitter, was held in person at the EBU in Geneva and online.

After two years of virtual events, the ABU DBS is back in person from today in Kuala Lumpur. On the first day of the four-day event, over 150 delegates from the Asia Pacific region and beyond packed the room for the WorldDAB workshop: “Economics, Environment, Emergency – driving the case for DAB+.”

WorldDAB – the global industry forum for DAB digital radio – is bringing together experts from around the world for a workshop at the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union’s Digital Broadcasting Symposium (ABU DBS) in Malaysia. WorldDAB is exhibiting throughout the event on stands 17 and 18, with members GatesAir and Paneda joining the pavilion.

Jacqueline Bierhorst receives WorldDAB Award for Outstanding Service

This year’s WorldDAB Award for Outstanding Service has been given to Jacqueline Bierhorst, Project Director of Digital Radio Netherlands. The Award recognises an individual for an exceptional contribution to the roll-out of DAB digital radio and is made annually at the WorldDAB General Assembly.
