A licence for a high powered DAB+ trial has been granted to SABC by the regulator ICASA. The trial commenced November 2014 and will run for a period of 12 months - Sentech is the signal distributor. The licence was applied for by the SADIBA/NAB Digital Radio DAB+ Trial Working Group. 21.5% of the population will be covered by 18 radio channels allowing 40 radio services from the Public, Commercial and Community sectors to participate. This workshop will inform stakeholders and decision makers on practical issues and the business case to take DAB+ from trial to commercial launch.
