A Trial Regional DAB+ Multiplex went on air 24 October 2018, covering Belgrade and the surroundig area. More than 2 million people are covered by the Trial DAB+ multiplex.

The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society announced that Serbia would digitise broadcast radio and TV by 2015. The Ministry of Telecommunications, the Ministry of Culture and Media, the Broadcasting Agency and the Republican Agency for Telecommunications were working on a common strategy.   

Former Yugoslav republics to discuss the introduction of DAB+

Representatives of regulatory authorities from Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro are exploring the introduction of DAB+ services following a conference in Sarajevo in order to exchange experiences and discuss the challenges for the future. While DAB + in Slovenia is the only former Yugoslav republic already in regular operation, Croatia have been testing for the last year. The other Balkan states have expressed interest.

Serbia has become the latest country to launch DAB+ following a launch ceremony attended by country officials and broadcasters at the Avala emission station. The digital radio network in Serbia will be expanded over the next year as Serbia continues its journey to the digitisation of radio.

Also present were EBU Members from Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Bosnia & Herzegovina, demonstrating the interest across the broader area in moving forwards with the implementation of DAB.

Radio Belgrade host digital radio event

On 8 June, Radio Belgrade will host a one day conference on digital radio, organised in cooperation with WorldDAB. The aim of the event is to promote digital radio and learn from European countries that have completed or nearing completion the digitisation process.
