01.07.2014

As of May 2014, 99.4% of Norway's population has access to DAB-reception. Almost all of the road coverage will be completed by October 2014.

A coverage map can be found on the digital radio norge website. (Enter name of city and choose year, and the map will show the coverage of the relevant area. You can also select an individual radio station. Orange colour indicates strong signals).

The DAB-network building is ahead of schedule, and will be completed by Summer 2014. NRK currently have 98.8% population coverage and will have 99.5% coverage by summer of 2014 and the commercial stations currently have 90% coverage.  A video showing some of the challenges of building a DAB network covering all of Norway`s challenging topography can be seen on the "Hva er digitalradio?" website

Tunnels will have DAB-coverage before FM-shutdown, all tunnels that require FM-coverage today, will then be equipped with DAB. Contrary to FM, where only a few channels have tunnel coverage, all channels on the outside of a tunnel will be available also on the inside.

Generally, area coverage for DAB will be equal to, or better than FM when the national DAB-networks are completed.
