Cumulative DAB+ receiver sales (automotive included) up to Q1 2020 accounted for 3,420,000 sales.

The availability of DAB and DAB+ receivers in France continues to grow with a range of devices now on the market, including kitchen radios, handheld and tuners. As more DAB+ services launch, with marketing campaigns to support them, sales are expected to grow significantly across the country over the next few years. 

According to the report released by GFK in January 2019, 2018 saw a 25.8% increase in the number of consumer receivers sold with DAB+ in France compared to 2017. A total of 116.000 DAB+ consumer receivers were sold in France in 2018, excluding automotive receivers.

Cumulative DAB+ receiver sales (automotive included) up to H1 2018 accounted for 1,734,000 sales, although this number is expected to grow significantly given that the French receiver law recently triggered will require all new receivers – other than automotive – sold within 12 months to include DAB+ capabilities.

As of 19.12.2018 – New receivers able to display multimedia content are to integrate DAB+ capabilities within three months [end of March], while all radio receivers have 12 months to include digital capabilities [end of December], aside from in-car receivers which have 18 months to comply with the law [end of May].

In France, DAB+ digital radio sales growth reached 26% year on year (Jul16-Jun17 to Jul17-Jun18) or 100ku. 8% of individuals in France have access to at least one DAB+ digital radio (Source: CSA/Mediamétrie).

Digital radio receivers capable of receiving DAB and DAB+ audio are available in the market through some of the major retailers (FNAC, DARTY, Boulanger, Auchan,) or online.

The digital radio receiver brands Pure, VQ, REVO, Tivoli, Dual, Bose, Philips, Roberts and Sony are available to the French consumer.
