In May 2025, the network operator Dasto Semtel began testing DAB+ technology in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In a post on social media, the company said: "We are proud to announce the start of the testing phase of DAB+... Testing allows us to explore the possibilities that DAB+ offers and to prepare the ground for the future of digital broadcasting in Bosnia and Herzegovina." A transmitter at Grdonj covers the capital, Sarajevo, with the Šibovi site covering the second city of Banja Luka. In May 2025, both transmitters were broadcasting seven radio stations on Channel 11B.
On 29 December 2023, the Communications Regulator of Bosnia and Herzegovina (Regulatorna agencija za komunikacije/RAK) published a public call for a licence to operate DAB+ "MULTIPLEKS 1". Applications must be submitted by 12 February 2024.
In the call, the regulator sets out deadlines for the licensee: no more than nine months from the date of issuance of the licence, to start broadcasting DAB+; to achieve coverage of at least 50% of the population in BiH by a maximum 18 months; and to achieve coverage of at least 85% of the BiH population by a maximum 36 months.
The coverage must be achieved with at least one transmitter in each of the nine digital regions.

In a post on social media, the company said: "We are proud to announce the start of the testing phase of DAB+ (Digital Audio Broadcasting Plus) – a new digital radio broadcasting standard that brings better quality sound without interference, more reliable broadcasting and more radio channels. This is just the beginning! Testing allows us to explore the possibilities that DAB+ offers and to prepare the ground for the future of digital broadcasting in Bosnia and Herzegovina." A transmitter at Grdonj covers the capital, Sarajevo, with the Šibovi site covering the second city of Banja Luka. Currently, both transmitters are broadcasting seven radio stations on Channel 11B.

On 12 and 13 June, the final meeting of a working group of media regulatory and frequency planning institutions from seven countries in eastern Europe took place at the Hungarian media regulatory authority NMHH in Budapest with the ceremonial signing of an agreement on the use of DAB+ frequencies in the joint frequency planning area. Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and Romania participated in the working group. The working agreement now concluded enables the administrations to tender for new or additional DAB+ multiplex coverage by agreeing on technical reference parameters for future DAB+ transmitter stations.

While DAB+ in Slovenia is the only former Yugoslav republic already in regular operation, Croatia have been testing for the last year. The other Balkan states have expressed interest.

A regional meeting of regulatory bodies on the introduction of digital radio (DAB) is being held in Sarajevo today. On this occasion, the Communications Regulatory Agency hosted representatives of regulators from the Republic of Croatia, the Republic of Serbia, the Republic of Macedonia and Montenegro to exchange experiences, challenges and good practices.
