Emergency Announcements

DAB/DAB+ digital radio tunnel rebroadcast systems enable tunnel operators to replace audio programmes with live or pre-recorded announcements, providing information and instructions in the event of an emergency. Using such systems allows for timely communication of evacuation procedures in the event of a fire or similar incident ensuring driver safety and effective management of emergency situations.

Digital radio offers the ability to broadcast one to many information and instructions to drivers. This fits with Directive 2004/54/EC of the European Parliament and Council, released in 2004 which requires all nations in the EU to provide a minimum safety requirement for tunnels in the trans-European road network. Digital radio offers a cost effective solution to solution to provide this minimum set of safety requirements.
