WorldDMB yesterday brought together high profile speakers from the broadcasting industry for a panel discussion ‘Digital Radio the Forgotten Connection’ at Telematics Update conference, Munich, Germany.

Pure launches 'One Siesta Mi Series 2', an updated and improved version of the Siesta. The model has been improved to include alarms and two special keys for programmable alarms. Siesta Mi Series 2 is available in black or white for a retail price of € 59.99.

This according to a release issued by Digital Radio UK and based on figures published by RAJAR for the period ending September 2012. The results also showed that DAB now reaches 15.3 million adults in the U.K. on a weekly basis, up 10 percent from 13.9 million in Q3 2011, and DAB listening hours have reached 209 million, an increase of 8% year-on-year, representing 65.2% of all digital listening hours.

dB observes that the test run proves that much will have to be done to pave the way for Ireland’s eventual transition to DAB+, as the country is currently far from the WorldDMB/EBU Profile 1 standard, as established in 2009 to evaluate the European market for broadcasters, manufacturers as well as consumers; currently, not all standard digital radios receive either DAB or DAB+, as would be required by the standard.

According to an article from the BBC, three of its digital stations have attracted record audiences in the past three months, referring to figures released by Rajar.

Online listening sits at 4.2% versus 3.7% the same time last year - so growing from a small base. The lion's share for digital listening continues to be DAB (65% of all digital listening) - with four in 10 households owning a DAB radio.

Vauxhall has announced a DAB radio upgrade for its commercial vehicle customers, providing digital radio on all its van models.

Weekly DAB reach is at an all time high of 15.3 million adults, up 10% from 13.9 million adults in Q3 2011.

DAB, once more, is the clear market leader, with almost two-thirds (65.2%) of all listening to radio on a digital platform. The internet continues to be a tiny proportion of radio listening. Importantly, the latest figures show it is growing at the same rate as DAB, 7.6% (vs 7.7%) year-on-year.

Overall, DAB radio accounted for 20% of all listening, up from 18% during the same period in 2011. The Absolute Radio Network saw digital listening reach an all time high, with an audience of 2.28 million listeners - the largest digital audience of any commercial station over the past three months, and an increase of 1% on last year's figures.
