More people are expected to listen to the radio digitally in the coming years, not only from the PC, laptop, smartphone or tablet but also in the car. Public and commercial radio stations plan to rollout ether next year, via DAB+.

The national network for digital radio will be completed in 2013 with new locations. As Dr. Chris Weck (Radio Germany) and Thomas Guard (Media Broadcast) announced in the recent interview with INFOSAT, six new stations extend the distribution range in the channel 5C in the upcoming year. The following locations are planned: Geislingen, Würzburg, Wendelstein, Chemnitz-Geyer, Minden and Gelnhausen. "Our goal is very clear, in the long term by FM Digital Radio will replace, the analog broadcast over FM" said Dr. Weck.

The conference will have a wide range of radio and media topics and with a total of 50 sessions over two full days on the 18th and 19th of March 2013. There will also be some additional conference opportunities on Sunday 17th that we will tell you more about in January. The entire programme will be ready, and will be published on this page, by the end of January.

The new network comprises two DAB radio multiplexes, each capable of carrying four radio programs, along with two digital television multiplexes.

The Media Council of the Bavarian Regulatory Authority for Commercial Broadcasting (BLM) has approved to increase the data rate of the program Rock Antenne in DAB + from 54 to 60 CU. The approval is valid until 31.10.2019.
