Czech Radio to launch new DAB+ transmitters

Czech Radio has announced its plans to expand its DAB+ network in the Czech Republic with the launch of nine new transmitters. The launches, which will be done in partnership with Český Radiokomunikace, are set to start in the second half of 2019, will increase population coverage in the country from 61% to 80%.

The next lecture stemming from the 'Digital radio in schools' project in the Czech Republic will be taking place on the 20th of February 2019 at the Secondary Vocational School of Electrical Engineering in Hluboká nad Vltavou. The two hour lecture will focus on technical details such as broadcasting antennas, frequencies or the volume of each and every single part of the digital multiplex.

Czech Radio to increase DAB+ coverage in the country to 80 percent in 2019

According to Czech Radio director Rene Zavoral, DAB+ coverage in the country, which currently stands at 60 percent, will reach 80 percent this year. The expansion will primarily concern the Brno, Central and Northern Moravia and South Bohemia regions.

Czech Radio will extend DAB+ coverage to the Karlovy Vary and Zlín regions of the country by the end of next year. At today's Radiocommunication Conference 2018 this was announced by Director of the Department of Techniques and Administration of the Public Media Karel Zýk. According to Zick, the coverage of the CRo DAB+ multiplex signal in Band III will reach 80% of the population by the end of next year.

WorldDAB today announced that the digital radio logotype around the world will be unified. The DAB + identifier, originally used by the Germans and using shades of blue and green, will be used not only in our western neighbors but also in France, Great Britain, Italy and many other countries including our market. Czech Radio will use a new visual identity within the portal, which can be expected in a few weeks.
