ZT GmbH will take part in this year's IBC and is presenting its latest solutions for broadcast infrastructures like the DAB ContentServer and high-performance test and measurement products. Including the S1000 signal generator with expanded DVB-T/DAB support. Further show highlights include products from IZT’s families of wideband receivers.

It was a year ago that the trial Portsmouth DAB multiplex started broadcasting with six services. The minimux, owned and operated by Angel Radio, now has 17 services broadcasting, with two more expected to launch soon.

Free for IBC attendees, the event is titled, “Looking to Radio’s Digital Future — Digital Switch Over Progress and Plans,” and will look at the progress digital radio has made across Europe and the countries planning to make the digital switchover.

From 1st September 2016 Schwarzwald Radio will be broadcast nationwide throughout Germany on DAB+.

Infotainment features in the car include DAB radio and Bluetooth phone connectivity.

With the DAB+ switchover planned for 2017, the Norwegian Road Authority plans to increase coverage and the number of stations carried. All tunnels longer than 500 meters that are used by over 5,000 cars a day will need to be covered with DAB+ and will offer all available radio stations.

By 2017 90% of Italy should be covered by DAB and earlier this year South Tyrol became the first Italian region to spread DAB into tunnels as well. It is estimated that 70% of the Italian population is reached by an outdoor DAB+ signal.

Radio in the car is one of the most important entertainment features with the 2015 DAT Report showing 84 percent of all new cars were equipped with a radio. Having a DAB+ in your car provides you with even more stations to listen to.

Public Roads Administration operators have previously used FM signals to send important safety messages to drivers in tunnels. But only those listening to a specific FM frequency would receive the messages. One of the advantages of DAB is that emergency service messages can be heard via the DAB radio, whatever radio station the driver is listening to.

This first multimedia system for motor homes is equipped with a top CD/DVD drive, but also has a DAB+ receiver for perfect quality radio reception.
