The Dutch Minister of Economic Affairs, Henk Kamp, has launched an internet consultation in response to the intention under article 3.10 of the Telecommunications Act to auction up regional DAB+ capability in layer 4. There are frequencies available in the three top regional allotments: eight licenses for Northwestern channel 9D, fourteen for Southwest channel 9D, and nine available for South channel 7A.  As existing permits are not going to be extended, this is an opportunity for newcomers to get a license to broadcast on DAB+ digital radio.

The annual update highlights which European countries are leading the way in the transition to digital radio, which are embracing it, countries that recently launched digital radios services and those currently without a market for digital radio.
