Digital radio is on the rise in Denmark. In the first quarter of this year, 33% of the population listened to digital radio. Two years ago it was just 21%. The Danish government has agreed that if it hits the 50% mark, the FM band will be shut down within two years and DAB+ will be the main way for listeners to receive radio broadcasts.

A five-inch colour touchscreen infotainment system is included as standard, and is bundled with a DAB radio, Bluetooth connectivity and USB points – more of which are found in the rear.

The small number of car manufacturers dragging their feet on offering digital radio (DAB+) should take note of new Australian radio listenership data released today by GfK. It’s estimated that about 40% of new vehicles sold in Australia feature digital radio. So which of the car manufacturers are taking their time making digital radio available in their cars?

The DAB+ summary report shows the cumulative audience for digital only stations, which is the total number of different (unique) people who listen to a DAB+ only radio station in that market for at least eight minutes (one quarter-hour), in a defined period.
