Denmark's FM network will be switched off from 2021, or earlier if digital listening figures exceed 50%, from which the switchoff will take place after two years.

The first regular broadcasts of DAB + have started in the Vienna, Austria region. Twelve radio stations can be received on the channel 11C multiplex. Across the UK, the program of work to increase the coverage of DAB network, either with new transmitters or modifications to 221 local DAB sites, has been completed.

The tender will feature 4 free spaces in digital multiplex, which will work on two transmitters of the RRT Concern in Kyiv. In total, 14 radio stations can be called in the multiplex.

In 2017, a total of 304,000 DAB + radios were sold in Switzerland. According to OFCOM, the number of vehicles equipped with DAB + radios as standard has increased significantly. It stood at 66 percent at the end of 2016 and climbed to 85 percent by the end of 2017. For the first time, the number of DAB + -capable vehicles also exceeds the million mark, writes OFCOM.

In Switzerland, almost 600,000 radios were sold in 2017 and have the possibility to receive DAB +, reported by Swiss government organisation BAKOM last week.

For wireless connectivity, the Avalon N5 offers FM radio, DAB+ digital radio and Bluetooth 4.1 (compatibility with AAC codec and AVRCP profile). In wired connection, there is a mini-jack input 3.5 mm and a headphone output also mini-jack.

A new SIRTI study showed that 94% of French people consider that access to terrestrial radio (FM or DAB+) is a universal right. The study also found that only 23% of mobile listening took place on smartphones, but that this figure is expected to grow as awareness increases that radio listening is possible on smart devices.

The pilot operation of the new DAB+ standard was put into fixed service in Austria on Wednesday, as confirmed by the Digitalradio Österreich. The national expansion will then follow in further stages. Digitalradio Österreich chairman Wolfgang Struber: "Another important step in the development of radio is the interoperability of digital radio receivers (receiving DAB+ and FM programs)."
