There is currently 99% area coverage. MediaCorp Radio, the national radio broadcaster, has purchased a new DAB multiplexer to upgrade their existing infrastructure, which was acquired for the launch of its DAB services in 1999. The new system allows for enhanced transmission reliability and increased sound quality. There is currently an on-going T-DMB multimedia data service trial showing the local traffic road condition and a trial Traffic News DAB channel based on automated text-to-speech conversion. Various operators in Singapore have announced their plans for commercial mobile TV services, which could be rolled-out in mid 2008.
