The Israeli Ministry of Communication announced the tender for a permanent DAB+ country-wide licence in 2008. It will be for a period of 14 years and the winning bidder is expected to initially make provision for 36 channels and achieve a coverage area of 80%.

The Israeli Ministry of Communication has just announced the tender for a permanent DAB+ country-wide licence. It will be for a period of 14 years and the winning bidder is expected to initially make provision for 36 channels and achieve a coverage area of 80%.
Bezeq, the Israel Telecommunications Corporation, has been piloting DAB transmissions since 1996. They currently have six transmitters (250W to 1kW) in an SFN configuration (Givataim, Haifa, Beer Sheva, Jerusalem Eitanim and Hadera) covering about 85% of the Israeli population. The multiplex contains seven stereo programs.
